Patrol

The Patrol Section of the Moffat County Sheriff's Office is comprised of two sergeants and nine deputies. Two of these deputies also function as Field Training Officers. The primary function of the patrol division is the enforcement of federal, state, and local laws, as well as the prevention, detection, and investigation of crimes in unincorporated Moffat County.

We are continuously available to:

  • Detect, apprehend, and process persons involved in criminal activity
  • Respond to calls for service
  • Deter criminal activity
  • Ensure safe and expeditious movement of traffic
  • Protect property; Recover and return lost or stolen property
  • Provide follow-up investigation of offenses when required
  • Identify and help mitigate hazards to the safety of the community.

Vacation House Checks

The Moffat County Sheriff's Office wants to make the county residents have a worry free vacation. Residents can call in before leaving town and provide information about your absence from your home. Deputies will routinely check your home during your absence.

Ranch Watch Program

The Ranch Watch Program is more of a philosophy that a regimented program. Sheriff Hume encourages deputies to stop and meet the people we serve. This will help develop relationships between the citizens of Moffat County and the Sheriff's office.
